Background：

In 2023, as 5G technology progressed to 5G-Advanced, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) released a Recommendation Framework and Overall Objectives of the Future Development of International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT) for 2030 and Beyond to outline the usage scenarios and corresponding capabilities for 6G. This document indicates that the industry’s research and development efforts, as well as collaborations, have entered a new phase in exploring 6G technology since 2024.

Under the promising vision of Intelligent Connection of Everything and Digital Twin, the year 2024 remains a crucial period for the selection of 6G technology. International organizations, universities, major operators, and core enterprises are actively engaging in the 6G research. Guided by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China and corresponding ministries and commissions, entities from industry, academia, and scientific research institutions are fostering international cooperation in the field of 6G. This collaboration centers around various aspects, including 6G vision and application, network and coverage, transmission, and devices. The aim is to bring together global scientists to explore and cooperate toward the IMT-2030 (6G).

The Global 6G Conference stands as the premier international conference in the 6G domain, offering the most extensive and comprehensive discussions. The previous three sessions served as a platform for facilitating global scientific and technological cooperation and collaborative innovation. Esteemed experts from both domestic and international backgrounds and key members from relevant 6G sectors in China participated in profound exchanges covering various topics, encompassing 6G vision and key technologies, security and reliability, green and sustainable development, and AI and communication. Through these exchanges, the innovative ideas and latest advancements in 6G technology research and development have been well demonstrated.

The upcoming Global 6G Conference 2024 will retain the high-end nature, expertise, authoritative guidance, and leading roles of its three previous sessions. It will invite top industry experts from around the world to concentrate on eight cutting-edge directions through conference reports, reports by specially invited guests, and roundtable discussions. These events will facilitate in-depth exchanges of 6G research and development achievements and collectively support frontier innovation and international cooperation within the 6G domain. Moreover, interactive formats such as on-site Q&A and talks will allow participants from industry, universities, and research institutions to share their understanding and experience in 6G research and cooperation. Thus, corresponding entities can share insights and build consensus for the establishment of globally unified 6G standards and ecosystems.
